The "Unofficial" 991.2 GT3 Production Number Stats

Great thread and thanks for putting this together. At what stage of production / allocation are VINs "created"?
From what time period do they represent? At 560 cars for NA, I wonder what % this represents of total VINs "created". Trying to extrapolate total cars expected to be produced.

Porsche will produce as many as they can sell for as long of a production run as they can cost justify. This is not your father's Porsche AG.
History should remind us that it was not until the run up of 2013-2015 that the limited production (and I am talking global production numbers of less than 1,000 and is some cases less than 100) air cooled 1990's cars became worth more than MSRP.

^ It sure is, but it won't change by an order of magnitude cause that would affect fleet mileage and cause other headaches for porsche. 2100 (with 420 for Cali) is what they set as a target for the US and I doubt that number will change by more than a dozen or two at the most.

The problem with extrapolating is that the uptake by the US market is not consistent per model. According to a recently published book on the 911R, 290+ (out of 991) were built for the US, so almost 30%. By contrast, assuming that the numbers posted by Pors9 for the .1 GT3RS are correct, the percentage for the US would be below 20%, and that for two cars which share a lot of their DNA.

pors9, I think your 991.1 RS numbers may be out of date. My most recent count is closer to 1440 cars but may be as high as 1521. I also can't see that NA production was 20% of the total. I have no idea where this 7500 is coming from.

I don't think production will stop early but they will slow it down as production shifts to other countries and other cars start production. January GT3 production for NA is looking to be less than 100 cars at this point.

Will have to revisit the 991.1 RS numbers maybe there are a few more to add. As to the 7,500, that came from Thomas Schmitz who visited the factory near end of production and was told the global production exceeded 7,500 units ... I believe him. Anecdotally others have intimated he same ...

Great info. Recall when the second wave of US allocations came out for October to December, there were quite a few, and then when the third wave came out January to calendar year end, dealers were griping they got so few.

I don't think that table is a lot of help. I don't believe China received 2100+ GT3RS's. I also think that NA gets a greater proportion of GT cars. If you do use that table then the US should have gotten closer to 1700 cars rather than the 1300 they got. Why so few to the US and so many to China?
I guess I didn't hear the conversation regarding production numbers or who was involved. Factory tour guide? Was that the total 991.1 GT production number? Did that include R's? I don't care if they made 7500, I just don't see the evidence to support that number.
