Default Opinions for 2013 Boxster decision

Greetings! I wanted to pick the brains/experience of those who've owned Boxsters for a while. We have a 1984 911 in the garage but that's a completely different story.
We've been looking at used 981's for a while to add to the garage and have found several interesting options. Here's a list of the most attractive...

1) 2013 'S', platinum silver/carrera red, 6MT, Premium, Infotainment, Convenience, PDLS, 20" Boxster S wheels, brand new tires, 34k miles, selling for $46k.
2) 2013 'S', white/black, 6MT, Infotainment, Convenience, CPO with 29k miles, $51k.
3) 2013 base, Platinum/Yachting blue, 6MT, Infotainment, convenience, CPO with 14k miles, $42k
4) 2013 base, black/black, 6MT, infotainment, convenience, premium, CPO with 5k miles, $45k

Yes, they are quite different. #1 is the closest, all of the others are 3+ hours away but the other local dealers can't come get within $3k or their cars are significantly less well equipped. Primary questions...is the 'S' worth the premium? CPO a good value?

Thanks

If you can get an S, go that route. Comes with more standard equipment and the extra power is worth the cost IMO. Do you have an idea what options you're looking for? Also, threre are a few pirsche dealers who will ship if you want to look farther for a used car.

Thanks. I've driven both the 'S' and base and could tell the difference. The extra torque was noticeable.
6MT and Nav are the only 2 non-negotiable items. The rest of the options are nice to have but won't kill the deal.
The first option (silver/red) was in nice shape, was inspected by the local Porsche dealer and was without issues. My only real issues with it are the interior (red looks good but we prefer black) and the lack of CPO status. I haven't seen the other cars in person, just tested a newer base model.

CPO Is nice to have but to have but you can always buy an extended warranty on the first car. Black roof or red on the first car?

black roof, red interior.
painted roll bars.
the only thing I would do differently with the interior is change to the sport design wheel.

Drove the base and S and yes, can tell the difference. As for colors, it's so subjective. I tried to order GT silver/red, but it was too late for a MY'16 to do so, so getting black, and actually, I think over the long term, black will be easier to live with. There are lots of low mileage Boxsters out there - and as Milehigh981 noted, you can always have a car shipped from a distant dealer after having a PPI done. I did that with my '04 C4S and was not disappointed. Buy what you love. I did and can't wait to get it.

Have you searched online for leftover 2014s? I would expect good prices on leftover 2015s this winter as well. Search each individual dealer site and see what they have. I have also seen many new leftovers listed on autotrader.

I think with the four cylinder 981 just around the corner, the '14 and '15 cars are going to get snatched up quickly.

I think that with the 2017 981s just around the corner, the 2014 and 2015 cars are going to disappear quickly. Many won't want the new four cylinder cars.
