So are you implying that for NA there were 891 Spyders and of those 490 were sold in the US?

The number from the Porsche employee is interesting.
But it does not match at all with the number of published build sheets for the North American market :-(. Based on the Spyder Data Base and further checks (e.g. Carfax) there are around 735 Spyder build sheets for Porsche USA (PCNA) and about 62 for Porsche Canada (PCL). 44 known Spyder (per Carfax entry) have no build sheets and cannot be alocated to the US or Canada...
Out of the so far possible VINs (2000 to 2910) about 70 numbers are not yet identified.
Perhaps you need to ask the folk (Mr. West) again ;-)

What was the point of specific numbers again? My impression is that most think we have a classic on our hands with this model. Sure, the fewer the numbers, the more rare I suppose. I am just glad I haven't seen another in Orange County.
