Default Pairing with 991GT3...

Hey guys,

What would you recommend as a manual pairing with my 991 GT3? Both cars will not be DD in anyway so creature comforts are not an issue. I am mostly concerned about short term ownership, a few years at the most, but maximizing the fun and value formula.

987 Cayman R, 987 Spyder, 981 Cayman S, 981 Boxter S?

All cars are used and around the same price except for Spyder, which is around 15% less.

Not likely to ever track, just back road goofing around.

Thanks for your opinions.

Steve

I have a 991s and a 2014 boxster s. It's nice to have both and they are very different. I can't see the point of having a cayman and a 911 for general goofing around.

Spyder

Open top, 28xx lbs, unique, and, in my humble opinion, the best looking car Porsche has produced in 20 years that isn't a 918 or GT.

Ditto. Spyder At some point in time you do need and open air roadster in your quiver.

As such a great pairing with your GT3. Perfect open air, super fun to drive.

Then again we're a bit biased. This is the Spyder Forum Folder isn't it?

Spyder or Cayman R. I always like to think about the Cayman R as the little brother of the GT3.

This.
Just depends if you want a thin sheet of canvas over you head or a thin sheet of tin. They are among the best drivers cars Porsche has ever made.

Another vote for the Spyder. It's hard to explain how capable, planted and communicative the Spyder is. I seriously have never experienced a car that actually feeds back what type of pavement I'm on, how much stick my tires have and yet maintain a level of comfort. Add to this the three very distinct driving modes with the top full on, rear apron off and canopy on or top off. Each offers a unique experience and a different level of interaction with your surroundings.

Driving a Spyder through some empty back roads is nothing short of pure driving bliss.
