Default Introduction

Thanks to all posters, learned a lot on the 987/981 forum during my search.

Search was for a 09-12 Boxster S MT with sport chrono, PASM, private seller as musts. Found a 2010 on AT with that in Sacramento-47K miles with 19's, bi-xenon, lsd, heated seats, 5mm spacers, Bose.

Had a buddy in Sac put eyes on it and with his OK set up a PPI at Niello--PO was taking it in for 40K service so Louie at Niello gave me a significant break on a very professional and thorough review of the car. Everything worked, readout showed only six ignitions range 2.

Bought car sight unseen $35.9K with PO paying for shipping to Las Vegas. Not a great deal, not a lousy deal. Showed up in great shape, put a new set of Pilot Super Sports on to replace the off-brand (Acceldera) that needed rears anyway.

Having a blast driving this car--the tranny is incredibly smooth and plenty of power. PSM was very intrusive until new tires put on-now only bothersome-a little more seat time and break in of the tires PSM going off I think.

One problem is intermittent starting-suspect clutch microswitch and have researched that and found a pic of it on top of clutch pedal but doesn't seem to be there on '09. Always starts but takes a few cranks on the clutch. Getting a "depress clutch" message. Any thoughts?

Bob

Nice car man! Congratulations. Probably just need to replace the switch. My 2 cents...

I have had floor mats ball up under clutch pedals, limit the travel, and not engage switch to allow starting before. Might check that before replacing clutch. Good luck.

Reoriented floor mat and all seems good-thanks for that! Clear side markers on their way--gotta get rid of the orange on black Halloween look.

Replace your clutch switch asap before it totally goes bad and you get stranded because you can't start the car. This is a known issue on 2009+ cars. Happened to my spyder.
