facts say otherwise....GT3 PTS being done in special colors of Signal Green, Arena Red and Fashion Gray on 30 or more units
now, special Targa model in Exclusive Gulf Blue
all of these "reasons" that they can't do PTS are pure hogwash
they can do and they are doing it on a regular basis
just not for you and me
I got the email on the Targa, how hard is it to actually do if you can do "just" 15 of them anyway?
The think that continues to amaze me about Porsche is the limited edition and special models that are nothing more than a some grouped options, a plaque and often...PTS.
Smart IMO.
They are masters at demand.
In the end it is just paint, but
If you can pay and timing is right...you can play.
Uniqueness - not everyone has it.
Instead of celebrating that Porsche has finally taken the castration bands off the Cayman *and* allowed it to retain a proper six-speed, you throw a tantrum that you can't get it in a designer color. Wow.
I believe one can order a Targa in Gulf Blue if one desires.
So what if Porsche makes 15 with some added verbiage for some market?
As to the Spyder, GT4 and whatever, ask firmly with definite order and I believe you will get one, eventually.
However since no PDK, no Spyder for me at this time.
PDK, offered, I will order a Spyder, color to be negotiated, I really like Lava Orange with Cognac leather interior, brown top.-Richard

If the PTS window isn't open Porsche will not make any exceptions....unless of course you're waiving some large some of money above and beyond the ridiculous PTS charge. I tried like hell to get a PTS 987.2 Spyder and contacted multiple dealers and the zone rep with zero response. Finally I gave in and ordered my car and sure enough Porsche opened a PTS window the same week my car was being delivered. To say that I was pissed is an understatement. Porsche has brilliant marketing, it's a shame they don't let their marketing interact with whoever is in charge of their PTS/Manufacturing as there is a major disconnect as far as customer satisfaction goes.
Having said all that, as long as the car is still in production there's a chance Porsche will open up a PTS window so you might be patient and role the dice.
This is where winning the lottery comes in. There is more than one factor to PTS. Yes, they have to open that option up... But then you have to hope that your production allocation aligns with that window. Which IMHO is nearly impossible.
As I understand it, they have improved their PTS processing cababilities (I believe a new location and logistics for PTS).
Not sure if this means PTS will be more common and open longer (in that case would lose some of it 'special-ness'). Seems like they will bundle lots of like color together in order to crank out more.

I don't know if we have factual basis for making the statement quoted above. PTS is available on three Porsche models at three current locations - 991/981 Boxster/918 at Zuffenhausen, 981 Cayman (& perhaps Boxster too) at Karmann Osnabrück, and Panamera at VW's Hanover facility. After the so-called 'moratorium' for PTS in MY2015 (which was full of 'exceptions' - hence the OP's legitimate grievance with the way the PTS option is handled at PAG!), PAG may have improved quality control & logistics of PTS . But as of today, I have seen no proof of any improvements in the customer ordering process, greater availability on models or frankly anything else related to PTS. And I monitor this subject closely.
Newbie question - is Porsche Exclusive real personalization? For Ferrari the answer to "can they ..." or "will they ..." is "yes," assuming you bring deep pockets. Does Porsche Exclusive have a deep selection of leathers, paint colors, etc? Assuming one is willing to go to Zuff?
