All Cayman GTS owners should feel very pleased with this test. Even though I am a 4S owner, I agree with the outcome…it's why I ordered a Boxster GTS.

A not so good review of the 991 GTS if anything. Seems it's a true parts bin exercise option package with no real benefit other than reducing the cost of desirable options. The Cayman GTS on the other hand seems to take the Cayman S to the next level.
What I found interesting is that the 3.4 GTS engine doesn't come alive above 6500 RPM and has more torque at lower RPM's. That's just the opposite of the Spyder 3.4 configuration which comes alive at 4500 RPM and continue to pull hard right to redline.

Just noticed how the GTS was hobbled by Porsche, the rims are a half inch less front and rear than compared to a Spyder. Has any one ever tracked the changes over time other than wheel size and horsepower as the models mature? I imagine there is a common progression.

The GT4, on the other hand will be a whole different story.

the article says that the Cayman’s 3.4-litre flat six doesn’t come alive above 6500rpm in quite the same way as a GTS - but it's still alive

Here's a quote from the article regarding the engines
"It’s intoxicating to indulge in the farther reaches of the 911 GTS’s rev range every now and again – and almost hallucinogenic to do so in the GT3. The Cayman’s 3.4-litre flat six doesn’t come alive above 6500rpm in quite the same way, balanced as it is more for mid-range muscle than redline hysterics."
