Default Cat-less Spyder?

Quick question - anyone remove the cats from your Spyder or 987.2? Any HP gain? Sound? Simple process? CEL's?

Thanks in advance...

Will gain a few HP, will gain sound. You will also gain smell and trigger CEL.

Yes to all of the above. Better throttle, mid range bump in power, more sound (needed for sure), smell with DFI is not a big deal at all. Throw a tune on it and take advantage of power opportunity and delete CEL

zeus, I removed the cats a few months ago and am happy with the results. Improved performance, sound and less weight. https://rennlist.com/forums/987-981-...to-spyder.html

Out the back. Sometimes at a light I smell it, but seriously these engines are so efficient, they burn very clean. It doesn't bug me at all. YMMV

This is my Boxster Spyder

Had catless FVD DPs with FVD tune and PSE.
The sound was ferocious.
I liked it for a while then changed to OEM cats and FVD exhaust.
Even though the smell was not terrible just didn't want to smell it anymore. It was really only when the car was at a stop.

I was following a CTS-V without cats a couple weeks ago on Mulholland. Yeah, it was loud. After about 5 minutes I was having problems seeing and breathing. Don't be that guy.

In the U.S., removing the CATS would be a violation of emission laws. I would not do it for a street car.

Most states but not Florida
No inspections
Just really didn't want any smell at all.

Yes, even Florida is subject to the heavy hand of the Feds.
