I have no idea if the 981 even needs it? On my 987 it's awesome!
I think it does. On my almost 3 yr old 981 S the pedal is 'mushy' and travel is too long for my liking. I've flushed/bleed them a number times but that doesn't improve the feel. Braking performance is fine (w/ fresh Endless pads) fine but pedal feel just isn't up to my liking.
Is it possible for you to get the part number of the master cylinder they used? The 2014 GT3 has a couple of versions of that part. With and without a integrated brake light switch.
What is the part no. for the proper GT3 MC for a 987.2 Cayman S? I have seen several numbers. Pelican and FCP tell you 997-355-910-31 or TRW PMN 166) doesn't fit the 987.2
The parts diagram shows 997-355-910-30 as used on the 2007-2011 GT3 and certain versions of the 997.2. It is a drop-in replacement on the 987.2. From searching it appears 997-355-910-30 has been universally replaced by 997-355-910-31, so that's what you'd want to order.
The vendors will tell you it won't fit because the 987.2 is not listed as one of the applications. But it'll fit fine, it just has a larger bore as used on the GT3 and also on 997 cars with PCCB.
It's a worthwhile upgrade in my experience and fixes the somewhat mushy stock brake feel on a 987.2
