Default Ali express deck install
Hey,
Just purchased my first porsche. A 987.1 base cayman. Just finished installing a new head unit in the car and everything works well except the dash now says audio off. Car has sound package plus with fiber optic. Searched everywhere and cant figure out how to get the message to go away. Anyone have experience with this?

hmmm not sure abt 987.1 but r u sure u connected fiber optic obx correctly?

do you have a link to headunit u purchased?

Pretty sure it was wired correctly. It was basically plug and play.

i had similar unit on my 987.2 with BOSE system and had no such issue.. (except reat two speaker not working. but thats normal)

is there any other issue other than warning lights?

Just the message on the dash. Everything else works. Plugged the old unit back in without the fiber optics and message went away. Comes right back on with the aftermarket one.

if u have time in hand, request seller for replacement unit. i did a lot of research on these headunits and there should be no warning lights on dash.

On the speedo where it gives you range/mpg etc?

I've heard others say this audio display becomes useless with the AliExpress units, if thats what we are talking about.? If sound is coming out and it works, tempted to say just flick it over to MPG or something! But it would annoy me that too!

Yes. The display theough the steering wheel. Just an annoyance at this point. Everything else works well.

You can turn off the audio message in the display cluster menu.

Wow what a simple fix. Just deselect audio on the in dash menu. Its still there if you look for it, but not staring me in the face!

Happy to help. I was annoyed by the same issue, but in my case it did not say Audio Off, it just displayed a series of dashes.
