2 days with a 2013 Boxter
At the end of September, my wife and I flew out to San Francisco to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. We spent the first 2 1/2 days in the city. We did all the touristy stuff (Pier 39, Ghirardelli, Alcatraz, Height&Ashbury, Chinatown, etc) and caught a Giants v Dodgers game (AT&T is a beautiful ball park, reminds me of Camden Yards a bit).
Our feet needed a break after walking up the hills
We figured we were in sunny California, why not get a convertible. So we rented a 2013 Boxster. Here are a few pictures of our 2 days and 500 miles with the car.
Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge feels very special, especially with the top down.
Wow, redwoods are amazing. Muir woods is a must see, when you come to San Francisco. Plus, there are some great twisty roads on the way. The Boxster handled the corners with surgical precision. I love the steering wheel and the sound...fantastic exhaust note.
Next stop, Napa!
True words
Castello di Amorosa
mini Porsche meet outside of Beringer
Day 2 we headed south along the coast on 1. This tunnel was an aural treat.
You west coast guys are really spoiled with cliff/beach views. Though fog was pretty thick at times this morning.
Fresh strawberries and 10 avocados for $1!
Laguna Seca! This place was a ghost town. We drove around a bit but, we didn't stay long. It wasn't the wife's favorite spot
Lonesome cypress
Impressions: Although, I wouldn't replace my 993, I could easily see owning a Boxster as a 2nd "fun" car. It feels about as fast as my 993. The top goes up and down in mere seconds. The handling is a dream and the exhaust note is sublime when you punch it. I prefer the Boxster's seats and steering wheel to my 993. I imagine an 'S' model is that much sweeter.

Great photos! Very nice color and great job capturing the coastline.
That tunnel must have made you laugh like a little kid, I know it always makes me laugh or sends a chill up my spine (depending on RPM's
Makes me wish I was still living there. I truly miss the driving out there, it's like nothing else I have ever experienced. You couldn't have picked a better car for your vacation.
If you liked the standard Boxster you will love the S. It will give you the added oomph and if you choose the sport suspension you will be even more impressed with the handling. Definitely keep the 993 though!

We loved it there, and since our trip, we have been looking for any reason to make it back.
We hit all the same spots except the ballgame, and I went to Infinion instead of Laguna Seca... but got the same reaction from the wife.
