Yes I know the electronics will be a pain, but I "Heard" from a good shop that just the seat sensor can be turned off through the computer.. we'll see about that. Safety wise, if I can keep all the other airbags working, I'm good with that. I don't know about you guys, but I grew up in my "Dangerous years" with no air bags, ABS or TC... God forbid! I wish I could just spring for the GT2s but at about 8k... Hopefully I'll upgrade later. I'm also looking at the Recaro Profi XL. They fit me really well, and the pass throughs are a few inches higher. I hate the "average" fabric though, it would be better to have leather and alcantara from Porsche. I'm also putting in the Taret mid-level harness bar with cross-brace. It's like a half cage, but lives above the bulkhead, as I can't spare the couple of inches of seat travel. The GT2s do sit high, but I could mount them right to the rails for at least an inch or two in savings.... some day? Stay tuned.

not a 987 but still similar, I had someone 6'3" in my car with crash hat on and cushions removed...did not pass broom stick test. Maybe with Brey Krause..

I can see them. But you're missing the Gran Turismo steering wheel!

There is something a little bit 'Extra Terrestrial' about these 996 gt3 seats, don't you think?

I would only add one point to going to the GT3 seat in a car that currently has thorax airbags installed in the seat - liability. IF you drive the car on the street and are involved in an accident with a passenger that gets hurt, you may find that the money you saved on the seats has evaporated as you have now changed a standard safety feature on the car.

This came up as I was searching for suitable seats for my GT3.

Just sayin'...
