Default Bought a Cayman!

After a long history with BMW, I was able to get my first Porsche this weekend. I wasn't really looking at Caymans at all to be honest. Was looking to get a 996 instead. But when I realized that I could get a CPO Cayman S in the low-mid 30's, it was too good to pass up, and I'm really glad I did it. Searched for a white/black 6spd model, and this one popped up. Bought it in Texas, and drove it 19 hours back to Atlanta. Anyways, I can wait to get it on the track, and I'll be doing the mountain run through the GA mountains on NYE.

My one complaint about the car right now is that the steering wheel is so thin. I just got some driving gloves, and it seems like my hands are going to tire quickly from having to exert so much energy just trying to grip the wheel.

It looks like the standard steering wheel, but a light grip is the best way to drive a sports car on or off the track. If you find that you are squeezing the wheel, try to ween away from that action. The best race track drivers use a very delicate grip. Same wheel as mine, you will get used to it, enjoy.

I agree, but its a minor gripe. I bought my white 08 CS last February. I came from an 08 M3 (thick wheel) and 996 C4S. still have the M3

Well, this is why I'm going to be in the novice group at the pboc event in January. I didn't know this about the grip of the steering wheel. Thanks for the input.

how would you rate your old 996 c4s in comparison to the cayman s?
these cars are similarly-priced here.

cds442: Love white, as my 3 previous P-cars were all white. FYI, if you still feel the need for a thicker steering wheel, try Dallas Custom Steering Wheel. They can re-leather your current steering wheel to a thicker diameter. I've read good things about them on another Cayman website. Here's their link: http://www.dallassteeringwheel.com/sw1.htm Enjoy your new car.
