It really just comes down to how fast you want to go. If you want the additions the S has to offer I would definitely go with the S. If you are just slugging along in traffic than a base is fine. If you are going to track "hard" with a stock car you'll want an '09 S. If you are just going to have fun at a few DE's the stock 987.1's are fine. Personally, faced with your decision, I'd go with an S. I've got about 38k on mine, bought new, and I drive it like you are supposed to drive a Porsche. I haven't had any reliability issues.
