Default Need help with track wheels and tires

Anybody have advice on track wheels and tires for '06 Cayman S.
Street wheels are 19" 235's and 265's.
Want to go to 18" for track, any advice on wheel/tire set ups is appreciated.

There's nothing wrong with OEM 18" wheels other then weight and prices on the used market are about $800 per set. A step up would be OZ Alleggerita wheels available from Tirerack. As far as tires go, I like the BFG R1 but this is not really O.K. for the street. Michelin Pilot Sport Cups are fine for the street unless there is a lot of standing water.

+1 There is nothing wrong with the OEM 18" wheels. The OZs are a good choice and they are light. I have Forgeline wheels which a three piece wheels and a bit expensive. With respect to tires, I'd recommend the MPSCs because they last long. Otherwise, the Nitto NT01 or Toya R888s are good R compound tires. If money is no object go with Hoosiers. They will cost you about $100 per DE session.

If we can help you out with a quality forged wheel from Fikse or Forgeline let us know! We have plenty of Cayman experience as well as we tracked our own car for nearly 4 years.

We do have Rennlist specials on both brands.

We have run both 18 and 19 on the track. 18x9.0 et51 (et44 if you can get 2.0 or more camber) and 18x10 et34-36 or 18x10.5 et38. Same widths/offests for 19 inch. You can stick with stock widths of 235/265 or go 245/275.

We can also put wheel/tire package together for your track needs as well.

Cheers

Default Tires

I run 18 inch CCW with 245/275 Nitto NT01 i have done the suspension up and find this setup works well. Everyday tires are MPSP on 19 inch rims
I have run R888 on my old 911 SC race car, but find the Nittos to be more responsive and stickier for longer

Just my two cents

WKP, you have choices...tough decision. CCW is a strong wheel one piece alluminium wheel and really well priced. Forgeline great wheels well supported but a bit more expensive. does give the availability to repair a outer , inner half or a center as well. Fikse strong well designed wheel expensive and longer time frame to get replacement parts.
Look to a used wheel to begin your endeavors. be sure of straight and trueness of the wheels you purchase if 2nd hand. biggest advantage is strength and weight of the aluminum wheels.
PM for any additional info.

What Scott said, however I will say Fikse does now have a large amount of replacement part inventory. We are only a few miles away from them and we are there often.

If we can help you out with track wheels from Fikse or Forgeline, let me know. We do have special pricing on both for Rennlist members.

Cheers
