ebay find : 986 turned into Spyder...RS
#31
I agree everyone has the right to NOT like the car. Of course. But calling it an abomination is different than not liking it. Look, if a guy takes an MR2 and makes it into a Ferrari or Lambo, that is the ultimate rice hack, obviously. But this guy didn't take a Ford Escort and turn it into a Bugatti wannabe. People have been taking old Mustangs for years and throwing GT headlights, stickers, well, making them a complete GT clones. And people love them. Hell, I love them...even if someone can walk up and say, "this isn't a TRUE GT" So what. I highly doubt that his old 986 plus the bodywork comes close to the price of the real car. As long as he's not representing it as a TRUE RS Spyder when he's selling it, who cares? It's still a Porsche, and in my opinion was done pretty well.

I've seen quite a few modified Pcars with bumped up model insignias, such as RS, RSR, GT, GTR, GTRS, etc, on these forums. It seems more "laxed" with Porsches. I've seen full Intergra R conversion and the owner still got butchered on the forums. I was a moderator on BMW forums, any M nick nack on a non M car will ensure lots of flame in the threads. Is it just me or is everyone sorta ok with this?

I am OK with what I can see in the picture looks wise, but I would prefer the total package like this:

Hmmm... something seems 'off'...

Yeah, that's the total package all right....
I think the "off" list is quite long:
1. I can't read any of the invoices.
2. The sum total on the invoices doesn't seem to add up to the cost of an "X51" motor.
3. $10 grand for a jacked up exhaust??
4. Built for some mystery celebrity's Dad? (And even that guy didn't want it).
5. What Porsche dealer in their right mind would display this POS?
6. Who in their right mind would pour that kind of money into a 2002 Boxster??
7. Selling for a friend? That's never a red flag....
8. just feel free to keep adding below

Whoever is dumb enough to buy this POS, deserves it, and everything that comes with it.

I expect this car to end up on the Jersey shore somewhere.
