Has anyone put a 987.2 PCM unit in a 987.1 car? I have no NAV and am wondering what my OEM options are...

I asked basically the same question i.e. can I upgrade a CDR 30 radio to a Bose with nav and the answer from the local dealer's service department is no as the basic harness will not accept it.

So as I commented in my thread "interior improvements" I removed the CDR 30 and had a Kenwood DNX9990HD unit installed. Bottom line great nav with a larger screen than the Porsche unit. Map updates are thru Garmin and cheaper than Porsche, plus Garmin is the leader in GPS. The unit also includes HD radio, bluetooth, CD/DVD, iPod cable and is Pandora and satellite radio compatible I included a picture in my thread as the installation looks factory OEM

Ops sorry the thread was posted on Cayman registry

To make is easier here is the picture and yes, for those interested that is not the Chrono clock in the little Chrono pod but instead an oil pressure gauge. The clock is carefully wrapped in foam and tied securely inside the dash. As you may already know the clock function is replicated in the instrument console

Thanks. That's a nice clean install. That looks like a 987.2 car that you have though, right?

Hi there, I hope you are still active on here. I was wanting to know what steering wheel that is fitted to your 987.2?
Is that the 991 steering wheel? Where did you order it from and did you fit yourself?
thanks

This thread is 8 years old I doubt he is still active , it’s the sport design wheel but it came on a ton of cars. Optional on .2 , came on cayman R , black edition , 981 , 991, 997. You can find them anywhere just search for it , many of them have paddles for a PDK but it’ll work. They are pricy because they look great.
