I recently did the elastic band repair to my Boxster top, to pull the sides in, and it worked perfectly. But one problem remains, that being the nylon cord still sticks out on the passenger side. Thought I had this thing fixed. Thoughts?
What do you mean by the 'nylon cord'? Do you mean that the fix did not work on the passenger side? If so, you'll need to adjust (perhaps make a new hole in the elastic band) to add a bit more tension.
The top pulled in to the point that all the canvas material is inside the frame/trim, but one of the white nylon ropes (I guess a tension operational rope) pokes outside the frame/trim.

2005 Boxster base 987 convertible sides not seating - repair
Bought my wife a 2005 987 Red Boxster base, with 75,231 miles, from a used dealer in Memphis, Monday night. Noticed the convertible sides not seating in the rails properly, when up. Google searches led me to this forum, so I signed up. My wife and I followed the video links and instructions and found the drivers elastic was permanently stretched, while the passenger side elastic was completely severed at the triangle stitching. I'm glad to say that the new elastic pieces have been stitched in to the old "triangle fabric" & the top is working great now! Fairly easy repair, despite blindly, completely removing the 2 - #15 torx screws. Thank you for the information! Before After Before. The window kept rolling down to the gap setting as if the top or door was being opened. After the new elastic was stitched in.
Ordered a pair of those last night. After reading up on several of the posts here, I figured I'd get a replacement set to keep in the glove box, as you suggested.
I've currently got an airbag fault sensor that I am waiting on the Foxwell NT510code scanner to arrive, so I can diagnose and reset, also.
That airbag light is a common problem. Check that the passenger seat isn't "leaning" against the firewall. That will prevent the airbag sensor in that seat from working correctly. Just move the seat forward a little. When I bought my car, I had an airbag light as well. Turns out somebody had stuffed an empty water bottle under the seat. I removed that and the light has never returned.
