Default build date?

Congrats on the order...did they give you a build date?

My build is similar...blk full leather, sport buckets, short shifter, A/C, CDJ, XDZ, painted roll bar and colored wheel caps

Yes...Today they sent email with estimated completion date of June 27 and delivery about one month later. They have repeatedly assured me it is a 2012 build.

The 3yr O red interior of a RS60 is the same red as in the Spyder -- Carrera Red. Someone correct me if i am wrong.

I've been waiting for mine since March 10th, suppose to be May production. My dealer didn't even let me know my completion date. I shall bug him tomorrow.

That's interesting

when I ordered my 997 Mk 1 RS it was about the same build date and it was current year (IOW, would have been an '11 by current dates)

I was told that the next year designation was for after Aug vacation builds...

Whatever....

Its largely the same but there are a few differences. The steering wheel on RS60s have silver spokes and the airbag cover & outer wheel part that you hold are red to match the interior, rather than an all black steering wheel which is what the Boxster Spyders with red interior seem to have.

The standard gauges are white on the RS60. The standard gauges are black on a Boxster Spyder, but for around $600 you can order them in white.

Also, you ordered Sport Buckets. The RS60s all have Sport Seats, not Sport Buckets, so the entire seat is red. The one Boxster Spyder I saw ordered with a red interior and sport buckets, only the side bolster areas of the seat were red, while the center portion of the seats were black.

Good luck and best regards,
Dino

Doesn't the RS60 also have perforated leather on the steering wheel and seats?

Yes, parts of the steering wheel are perforated. The center sections of the seats and the door panels seems something in between a textured & perforated leather. I'm not sure if this photo will show it well enough to see. Look toward the botton cushion area where the light is the brightest and you can just see some texturing. It also has a different feel than the side bolsters. Sorry for the poor camera phone photo quality.

Best regards,
Dino

I thought it odd too, that 2012 builds were starting so early....I did look at a Black edition 911 my dealer has in the showroom, it is a 2012

I think anything built after late March is a 2012, I agree it's very odd.

Gary if you want to spend more money on the car you might consider adding PCCB's, that would further lighten the car and improve the braking. Although I will say that for street driving the standard brakes are incredible and very easy to modulate.

porsche switched to black airbags for all interior colors. The trim matches the airbag.

Early red spyder interiors would have a red airbag/silver steering wheel trim.
