Insulting? So are you saying that being called a homosexual is an insult? Why, that's the most insensitive thing I've ever heard! And in poor taste!

I'm not easily offended and think this thread is pretty funny!

Edit: I just watched the intro to the site and don;t think it's too bad....a bit cheesy but still ok.
Fair enough Chris, I withdraw my criticism

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to lace up my butless leather chaps - I have a new Cayman to test drive...

haha - you think that's bad, my friend and I used to cruise around in his pink on pink (that's pink full leather, even the air vent surrounds) '92 America Roadster. Talk about feeling conspicuous, but that car was a blast.

Wish I had some pictures of that thing - but looked just like this:

Default pcar964

I am 45 and have 4 Kids and I am not gay .The Cayman was just the best Driving and looking car for the $$. It could have been called anything for all I Care. .So should 911 cars be associated with 9/11 ? the terrorist attack ? And the Boxster associated with people that own Ugly dogs? Porsche has always clearly stated the name CAYMAN came from the Alligator term a viscous cayman alligator and far from any gay association. What would you have wanted Them to call it ? the Pacer and Pinto Badges were already taken

I think the OP is just digging himself deeper. Pretty poor taste in humour I'd say.

You are doing great pcar964, you can recover 100% if you use some of Chris R's vanilla air freshener. This thread is a hoot.

It would be more of a hoot if more people on the Cayman board had a sense of humor!

It is quite telling, however, that some feel the need to post sober responses explaining how insensitive and insulting I have been. That could be perceived as insecurity

I wasn't calling the Cayman a gay man's car - I just observed that Porsche's marketing seems to be targeted that way. Go to the website and watch the web special. And if you're in South or Central Florida, you no doubt have heard the Cayman commercials with a woman's sultry voice advertising it like it's a new perfume.

As you can see pcar964 has no technical knowledge of any kind about Porsches. That is why he must come into forums and ask questions such as this in an effort to stir things up. I think he should take a look at this video he might be able to learn from it.

i don't understand why posts like this don't get deleted. it makes rennlist members look like they support gay bashing.

If I'm not mistaken, the original criticism was not of the Cayman itself, just of the marketing. While I may not necessarily classify my criticism the same way, I don't particularly care for the marketing these days. I still have a poster from the 80s of a 911 cresting a hill with all 4 wheels off the ground that says "compromise is for politicians".
