LSD in Cayman
#3
What's the exec summary?
There are dozens of Caymans with Quaifes installed. There was/is a Group Buy on CaymanClub. AFAIK, no one has had any issues so far, although obviously there's no long term history.
BTW, the Quaife is a TBD, not a true LSD, so depending on intended use may or may not be the best choice.

Actually I was disappointed with the article - they didn't really give a good assessment of the diff as they got seduced by the dramatic improvement of the car's handling when you put slicks on it.
They had too many variables to say what exactly the diff did.
The issue was No 165 December 2007: Cayman on LSD - LSD-equipped Cayman against a standard car

What did it cost you, including install?
Thanks!

I got one last year for my 944 S2 and it has really allowed me to accelerate hard comming out of the corners.
The unit cost about $1900 if I remember and it cost me about $300 to have it installed (don't hold me to that)
I got a 50/80 split (50% lockup on acceleration, 80% lockup on braking) althought they can build just about anything you want this is what they reccomended and I'm very happy with their reccomendation.

FWIW it took Farnbacher 1 1/2 hours to install the TBD Quaife in my daily driver & DE car. I opted for the Quaife given my application. The article referred to, is pretty lame in its analysis (typical for that particular rag). It infers that the Quaife is of marginal benefit vs. PASM. I strongly disagree, the Quaife transforms the car on the track.
A Guard locker LSD would be even better if your'e banging over the kerbs, never mind under braking

For ordering purposes, what is the part number of the unit you installed?
Thanks!

I checked the invoice that I got from Motordrive.com and I think that the part number is their own internal # QDF12Q. None of the other info from Quaife has the number on it and the box is long gone - along with the stock diff.
