Default Cayman TechArt Widebody Install at GMP Performance

I wanted to post some pics of a Cayman TechArt widebody install we are performing here at GMP Performance in Charlotte NC. This is a customers car who wants to build this car as a head turning street car. Here are the TechArt supplied pictures.

Here is a shot of the car (white, far left) at our open house right before we started on it.

I'm sorry but it looks better unmessed with,--or as a 3400R RUF. This looks like that LA company that takes trashed 996s, adds a bunch of cheap plastic, and tries to sell it as a 'upgraded' 997.

I like TechArt, but that front end - 'borrowing' styling cues from a car famous for its 'edgy' design simply doesn't work with cars with an underlying fluid style.

Time and time again, we see German tuners making truck loads of money out of making cars go faster and then blowing the profits on hideous body panels. And they don't learn.

looks insanely cool - 100000000x better than your typical boring stock design

He has inquired about performance upgrades to make it quick like his 996 Turbo so we are now talking about a TPC turbo kit for an engine upgrade. Suspension is still up in the air right now until we get the kit on.

Here are some additional photos of the install. The edges have been seamed and the gas door took alot to get it seamless. The other thing we did was cut the turn signal extensions so that the body line continues and are molding them into the front bumper.

I wouldn't call the stock design "boring" at all. I think the Cayman is truly a work of art. As for this Techart bodywork, all I can say is it's not for me.

Keeping it white. Its all taped because instead of blending partially, we go ahead and reclear the hood and door pillars to make sure the color will match.
