I seem to have to top up my coolant on a fairly regular basis but can figure out why or where it's all going.
Anyone else have an idea or are experiencing the same?

Hmmm, I don't have an idea, but I have never added coolant in my car, which is at 25K mi. now.

 

everytime i chk coolant level, it is low.
if i add more, next time it shows low again.
if i dont add anytyhing, i dont get warning lights or overheating....

so i just stopped adding. it always stay at the same low mark.... i dont get it either.

 

Once your level is topped up there should be no loss of coolant. That being said remember that coolant contains some water ( so some could evaporate off) and the system is supposed to be a sealed system. However, if you have to add some every weekend or everyother day sounds like there might be a problem and a quick trip to your dealer and a pressure check will verify good or bad.

 

My problem is exactly as Mooty described. I have no lights on or anything but every time I check it's a bit low.

 

over 2 months, i add one gallon of coolalnt (the large plastic bucket that's sold by porsche dealers as oem coolant), there was no leak anywhere, car was bone dry . when i stoopped adding, nothing bad happened either.

i should have had it pressure chk'd just to make sure, but i didn't know better.

 

Very strange behavior, I'd like to hear what the dealer service says about it.

 

I emailed my service advisor yesterday so we'll see what he comes back with.
Mooty, I have been topping up small mounts at a time, in three times I have put in maybe 400ml or so, not a gallon like you! That's nuts.
Are you checking it when it's hot or cold?

 

My car acts like Mooty describes...but I keep adding...a little OCD I know. I think that the coolant goes to the same place as my oil, missing socks in the dryer and some ships in the burmuda triangle...

I think I have found your socks in my coolant filler tube...are they brown argyles?
I'm going to swing by the dealer to take a look and hopefully my GT3 brake ducts are in too!!

Do you have ANY leakage beneath the engine? Any pink drops on the garage floor?

After finding a quarter sized drop on the floor of my garage my dealer reluctantly agreed that the water pump was bad and needed to be replaced. (Imagine! I have NEVER had a water pump replaced on a Porsche of mine since 1974 until now!) It has not come back. Case solved.

 

Then they are NOT lost! Great news, I will mail you the other brown argyle - you can see if you can "bring'em back".

not mine, the floor and underbelly were bone dry, no oil no coolant.

 

dead cold, first thing in the morning. else it will blow coolant all over the filler neck when not.
