Default Cayman S vs Exige S as weekend car

Any comments from people that have driven both. I know which one is more comfortable and easy to get in and out of. Which one is better for occasional use for short trips and some autocrossing and track use only? Only interested in the supercharged Exige.

I have driven both, I think that if you drive both you will know what your looking for. They have a lot of differences for being both new small mid-engine cars, both interesting in there own way. My take: Exige is purpose built tract car that you can drive on the road, the Cayman is a road car you can tract.

I would guess that a 'short trip' in an Exige would feel 'long'.

i own a modded cayman s ane had elise. driven exige and exige s.
on track, exige S will eat cayman s alive given same driver.
auto cross, exige s will be better also (stock to stock)
if you track a lot, consumables are cheaper on lotus.
however, keep this in mind. cayman s is a CAR, exige S is a TOY.
i love both. may add exige S when wife nods her head.

exige S is a TOY

Actually it even looks like a toy. Although my time behind teh wheel of an Exige was a grand total of about ten minutes, I can't imagine using that car as a commuter unless I had really short trips. Its very light weight however make it an outstanding track car.

btw, when i say "TOY" i mean it in the best sense.
i love lotus. it's light.
but it's not put together as well as p cars. of course, that's not why ppl buy lotus.
just want to make sure you know what kind of machine it is before you buy one. if you bought it for the right reason, it's a very very rewarding drive.

Honestly, I haven't driven the Exige S, but I've driven both the CS and an '05 Elise w/sport package. I see the Exige S as just more of what the Elise stands for.

I had a similar question a couple of months ago. I was going to buy a CS. But, for what I was looking for in a weekend car, the Elise (& therefore the Exige) is more what I'm after. I'm the type of guy who pulls the rear seats, spare tire, and carpet out of the 951 to save 140 lbs.

I vote Exige S! I'm personally putting myself in a position to get the Elise soon.

if you would shut up and stop gripping the door handle so tight i would have drifted right up to the guard rail.

i did that in my cayman test drive too. scared the **** out of garyQ. that prompted him to give me a big discount.

maybe when you come back, i will have exige S.
