Unhappy Help with system fault

I am looking for some advice about the system fault warning. The ! is lit on my 2005 Boxster S, imploring me to go to the workshop. It goes out when I turn on my lights or select a turn signal. Anyone out there with similar gremlin?

it doesn't say "System X Failure, go to workshop" ? I had that problem with the PSM.

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then reconnecting.

No, it says simply, "system failure visit workshop." My research on the forum shows that in 2004 there were several complaints of system failure messages among 986 and 996 owners. At the time there did not seem to be a permanent fix - the speculation was that the fault was caused by the bonnet latch or a bad control module. There were no posts after 2005 and so I am assuming that Porsche solved the problem.

I dropped it off at the dealer today and will report on the cause of the problem when I find out. I had some similar bugs in my Audi TT. Software in modern automobile operating systems is not the best. I am hoping, however, that it is a defective part rather than a software glitch. With my TT, I had to wait for two years before they developed a suitable software patch.

Dealer replaced a defective module "per bulletin." There must be a technical bulletin out on this problem now. I am back on the road.

Control module in the front trunk. They reset the codes and if it comes on again, they will replace the controle module. Don't know the cost but had it looked at boardwalk in Plano. Drove all day Saturday no problems.
