Cheap Porsche Boxster S forsale But CAT D on Ebay.
Hi All,
I am going to see a Porsche Boxster S (987) car for sale on ebay this weekend but the car is CAT D.

Interesting the car has been repaired but the porsche specialist has put a Porsche CAYMAN S bumper on instead of a standard boxster unit. Looks pretty good.
The price of the car is 32K (buy it now), but looking at Auto trader at similar spec'd cars they are going around the 38K+ Therefore this looks cheap?
Does anyone know anything about CAT D?
Would you buy this car? or can you advise me of anything I should be asking the seller? Does CAT D mean that the car insurance is higher? Would the car insurance company pay out the same on a CAT D compared to a non CAT D car?
Please help? I am looking at the car with my Dad on saturday morning?

I guess category D means "damaged". They did state that, and that it was prof repaired.
Would I buy it? It's definitely a risk to buy used cars, now more so with the damage history, repaired or not. At least they were honest enough to admit it from the get-go. Or maybe it was so extensive there was no way they could hide the repi as an "upgrade to a Cayman bumper". I'd check the repair bill to get an idea of how extensive the original damage was and to see how well it was repaired. Then, haggle, haggle, haggle. 32 k would be too much money for a risky deal. If you can get the price low enough that it seems the risk is worth it, then maybe it's not such a bad idea.
BTW, is it still under warranty, or did the damage and repair void the warranty?
