Default Ordering 07. Undecided on PCM

I am ordering a 07 Cayman S, probably tomorrow. A daily driver & occasional out of town track day car.
Certain on the PASM, Sport Chrono, sports seats, sports shifter, bi-xenon, heated seats, but not sure about PCM. I have never had a vehicle with Nav, but have read Chapman's sports chrono article in Excellence. I'm wondering about data storage of track times. Plus, getting around unfamiliar cities does have an appeal. $2970 though, or just another drip in the Porsche options bucket. Are you happy with it? Miss having it? Will it be obsolete anytime soon?
I would appreciate your comments.

PCM is a tough choice at the price they are asking for it and to make matters worse in order to really make it worthwhile you really need to tack on another $1k for a steering wheel with controls......not necessary, but much better to work with. So the whole package is really $4k IMO. One more problem......I don't believe there are any "sport" steering wheels with the controls, so you have to settle for the base.

If the car is going to be a daily driver I would spring for it. Once you have it you will never want to have a car without it.

It would only make sense for me if I drove the car all the time in unfamiliar places, which I never do. If it's unfamiliar, it usually means I'm out of town which means I'm driving a rental car. I would have no use at all for PCM in my personal car.

The Cayman is the only Porsche in the US that has no sunroof and no nav screen and that's a clean look.

I ordered it w/o PCM. Decided to but that money into a PDE weekend.

I have a portable Garmin GPS I use for out of town travel (when I'm usually in a rental car), or the rare times it's needed at home. For me, PCM offered only 2 benefits: (1) SC multiple lap timing & (2) ability to play MP3 CDs. I decided the negatives outweighed those benefits & I did not get PCM.

Plus, I greatly dislike a TV screeen in a sports car.
