Default Cayman S Discount?

Has anyone recieved a discount when purchasing a new Cayman S. I have heard that many 997 and 997S owners are seeing discounts anywhere from 4.5% to as high as 7.5% on their orders.

yes, you can get discount here in CA.
4.5% is possible.
7.5% you better be buying several caymans.

Just a few weeks after it came out, 5K was a piece of cake. 6K was doable if you had any negotiating skills -- and that was on a very lightly optioned ordered car. It can only have improved since then now that every Porsche dealer has Caymen sitting on his lot...

But it will take a little effort on your part and possibly a one-way plane ride somewhere to get the best deal. 10 phone calls max!

I wanted to get one also! 6k off is pretty "reasonable" for the salesperson to make a living on the street...haha

jturbo-
I was able to negotiate with a large philly area dealer over the internet/phone to get a several percent discount on a car they had in stock. Took very little effort, probably because they had more than a dozen in stock and it was a few days before the end of the month. With that deal in hand, I was able to convince my preferred dealer that a 5% discount on an order was reasonable. Initially, the preferred dealer told me they don't discount Cayman orders.

Happy Hunting!

I was able to get $3000 (4.6%) off an order in Colorado Springs last weekend. Neither of the downtown Denver dealers were willing to negotiate. I was offered $4500 off an in stock car in Boulder, but I didn't want silver, again. I was offered $2000 off an order in Fort Collins.

I didn't do any hardball negotiating--i just went in with the line that I was aware that dealers on both coasts were discounting anywhere from 4-6 grand (Herb Chambers in Boston has a coupon on the Porsche website for $4000 off any car in stock). Went to five dealers in one day, and only the last one offered a test drive. Salesman was nice and I didn't feel like grinding a better deal, so I called a couple days later and placed an order for a June build.

CA. You might be able to get it in some secondary market like Fresno (do they even have a P dealer there?? ). You can certainly get it in other states where you don't see a Porsche at every stoplight...
