Default Cayman discounts

Valley Motors in MD has been running a Cayman advertisement this week. They are offering a special Cayman introductory price of less than $60K. I'm not sure how special this price is since I haven't talked to a salesman about what I get for less than $60K.

if it's less than 60k, it must be a zero option car, msrp would be just a tad above 60k, then they give you a bit of discount you are at 59,999.99 LOL.

just my guess.

The vague ad is designed to get people to call and ask for details. Even they don't know just how much discount they might be willing to offer until they know all about the prospective buyer's situation and preferences. Their inventory may also change from one day to another. Maybe you've seen posts stating that $3000 discounts are becoming more common; more than that for cars on the lot that are "demos." Some dealers advertise 6 or 8 Caymans in stock. I haven't heard much about significant discounts for spec-ordered Caymans, but that will come eventually, if not already available at some dealers.
Oops. I just read the other Cayman discount thread on this forum and saw mooty's 4.5% discount possible post, and YA911Fan's post claiming that a 5 to 6% discount was easy early on, with more than that available now, if you're willing to search and travel. I'll do the math. Six percent would be $3900 on a $65k Cayman, and $4500 on a $75k Cayman.

jim, you are right on those number. out on the east coast you may also have better price. you one CAN get close to 10% discount if you are really really tight with the delaer. actaully, more than 10%, even on a stripped car.

Mooty: I don't know about you, but that still doesn't make me feel bad about paying MSRP for a spec-ordered mid-January delivery. After reading all the glowing reports, I just couldn't wait a few months for the prices to come down. We can take advantage of the discounts on our subsequent Caymans.

hey, jim, i am with you. one can wait until next year and get even bigger discounts, but.... why wait if you can have fun NOW.

the price i indicated is just what TODAY's mkt is, unlike what it was in january. but we had our fun first!

i had the very first cayman in nor cal and i did pay more than i need for it, but now i got 10k fun filled miles already. anyone got more miles than i do?

Since there's about a $7K differance between MSRP and invoice, a 10% discount would get you the car for only $1K over invoice. That's not much of a profit.
