i just got my RA1 shaved mounted to profil 10's. haven't had time to stuff those on the car yet.
love that gun metal color. i hope you are NOT the one cleaning those wheels.

pete, my fikses are on.
the front top of tires to bottom of wheel arch spacing is now smaller than before.
but the rear looks like it's on high heels.
i had RA1 shaved and drove on street for 40 miles. i love it.
the sidewall seems harder and just felt so much better even at legal street speed.

Yeah, needs to be lowered now... shouldn't be a problem for you once you get your suspension. I'm leaving mine alone since these are just for track use and I have PASM which I like.

one thing to consider on the RA1. Even though they're my favorite tires for all around performance, they're pretty heavy. The 245 weighs 26 lbs and the 275 30 lbs. So, you shave weight on wheels and you add more on tires.
It's better to have heavy wheels and light tires than the opposite. The grippier when hot MPSC on similar sizes (235/40 - 265/35) are 20 lbs lighter than the 245/40-275/35 RA1.

I'm leaving mine alone
__________
surely you jest, pete.
i think you mean "i'm leaving mine alone for this weekend" LOL
NJGT you are right. i have been running mpsc on gt3. when i was putting my cayman fikse/ra1 on today, i felt them hvy. your explanation clicked.
i will try cups next. the RA 1's will be shreded by end of april anyway ;-) as you know the front is not a prob. but what rear to run? cup has 265, 285 and 295 width, suggestions?

Don't get too concerned about running the same width and diameter as stock. The Cayman S is not an AWD Porsche with a 4% tolerance from stock tire sizes.
I've run diameters from 24.6" to 26.7" on my rear wheels and 24.6" to 25.6" at the front.
On the Cayman S, I would run MPSC 235/265 on the stock size 18" , or 265/285 on the 9"/10" custom size wheels. The stock sizes allow for the 235/285 MPSC combo, but more understeer won't be welcome (the car already has some).
A 265 MPSC has more grip than a 275 Toyo RA1, unless it's cold, snowing or raining. I run 265 MPSC and 275 RA1 at the front on my car.

I chose the RA1s because I like the 245/275 widths; less understeer than the 235/285 option with the MPCS. Regarding the weight, realize that RA1's come with more tread depth than the MPSC. If you shave them to the same tread depths, the weights will be much closer. I leave mine at full tread when buying them during the rainy season (like now ). In the summer I buy them with the Enduro Shave.
