Interesting! That's certainly more than the guy who got -.5 on his 987. I wonder if the Cayman is different or if you have a better mechanic...

Yes, I think -1.3 degress is pretty close to where you'd want to be with street tires and a car that drives mostly on the street. Any more and you'd have lots of tire wear on the road...

this one is quite good with porsche suspension set up.

2:35 is a good time. I've done 2:35s with my 993 (stock) on DSSR tires and moderately aggressive camber (-1.8f, -2.0r), but that's pushing the car to the absolute limit, not leaving a whole lot of margin for error. Stock shocks on H&R springs, so it's not exactly a handling machine right now. (yeah I know, excuses ) Hoosiers and a decent suspension setup would be nice

If the Cayman was bone stock except for Hoosiers, I'd say that's a pretty successful first outing - I'm sure you weren't pushing it 100% with your new car! Glad to hear you had a good time, I saw two Caymans there, a gray and a white one, which was yours?

gt3cup98, the street GT3s are capable of mid-upper 2:20s, I believe.

I was drivling the White Cayman. Under 2:30 in a GT3 street car is really good. I had a GT3 street car and rarely got passed and I could not do those times.

The top C car qualified at 2:24.0 at last year's race. A top club racer in a B class street GT3 would probably be in the 2:22 range, but that is with Hoosiers & a full race suspension. The street suspension is probably +5 seconds, so ~2:27 in stock form would be my guess.

Sebring was a blast last weekend. Cant wait to get back! I would love to take a Cayman around the track. I test drove one a couple of weeks back and was very impressed. I can't imagine what a well modded one would do.

That's about what I figured. But most Street GT3s I've seen at Sebring have been driven by either Snow White, Cinderella, or Pocahontas... in other words, I shouldn't be passing GT3s in a 993, but here we are...

no need for camber plates. a MUCH more elegant way of getting more camber is to use GT3 A-arms

Robert - I'm not familiar with those. How are they more elegant? I was always quite impressed with how easy and repeatable camber changes were on my 951S with Racer's Group camber plates (with no need to get under the car to return camber to "street setting" at the end of a track day)...

well im on the Boxster Spec Racing committee for POC. and we have been looking at better ways to get more camber out of the front end of the Boxster. the 987, 997 and C7S (cayman) all are the same. You can get much more negative camber without drilling holes into the car's body. Also, it will hold alignment much better.

Interesting! As far as the camber plates on my 951S, they uses existing mounting holes for the original struts and seemed to hold their settings rather well. I was just wondering if there's anything more advantageous from a geometry standpoint about changing the camber from below (i.e. does it affect toe-in less?)...

I once passed a 993tt in a bone stock 2.0L 914 on street tires. It was just wrong.
