You know, this brings up a good point. People blast the Cayman for "only" having 295 hp for $60k and yet the Exige has 189 hp for $51k. Either car has more ability than most of those complainers anyway.

I'm amazed that anyone in the US buys a Lotus at those (UK) prices... The Elise and Exige are great cars, but nowhere near as complete as any Porsche. You pay your money and take your choice...

i will get a cayman (soon i hope), i have hadan elise.
i think some ppl are really confused.
cayman is a great car.
elise is a great toy.
that's a big distinction.
one is not better than the other. they are DIFFERENT.
btw, exige is NOT 51k. with only 300 or so coming to USA, it will be marked up to wazoo..... presumably exige owners want to track it, you then get the track pck for about 2k, a few other options like LSD... it's $55k + mark up....

IMO, the Cayman S promises to be a great daily driver which should do quite well on the track. The Exige promises to be a great track car which should be just as awful as the Elise as a daily driver. Comparing the 2 is like comparing bagels & doughnuts - similar configuration, but totally different products.

Perferably piping HOT Krispy Kremes ready to melt on contact.
Getting in and out of the Elise on daily basis would require regular trips the chiropractor and yoga sessions. Great on track and backcountry roads -- certainly not daily commuter vehicle. Which is why you don't see them cruising down your local blvd. that often. That and demand dwindled considerably once we all had a chance to get touchy-feely with it. The local Lotus dealer is swimming in cars and the 10k plus markup is long gone. You can get below MSRP now.

nah. you didnt eat the right.
eat one, then before your brain cell registers, eat the other 11 in the box.
i always eat a dozen at a time, less than 15 min i can consume the whole box...
then a few min. later, you feel funny.... drink 1/4 gal of milk, than a cup of tea....
nirvana...

I just drove by of local Lotus dealer during the lunch break to check status of the eBay "I'll sell you my place in line to purchase at MSRP" was going. I counted 10 cars that were visible from the front of dealership. No telling how many are sitting in back.
I was caught up in the this frenzy roughly and had a chance to take friends #9 spot. Once the dealer sniffed this out, they made it very difficult for the transaction to proceed because they could mark it up 5-10k over MSRP. How quickly things change.
