Default Locking the doors - Audible confirmation?

Is there anyway on my 987S to make it so the horn sounds when I lock the doors? I'm always paranoid that I didn't lock it and every other vehicle that I have has the audible confirmation.

I looked in the manual but didn't see it.

Anyone know?

Regards,

Excellent question, Elusive! I'm consistently looking at the lights for evidence of flashing, but would also prefer a quiet beep to confirm that the locks and alarms are set.

Tried leaving the center console open - no effect.
Per the manual, we'd need to leave the glove compartment, top latch, one of hte trunk lids or doors open in order to get the warning beep...it is just that, a warning that something is not properly closed.

Lightbulb Center console needs to be *locked* and open

The manual says that an audible beep will be heard upon locking if there is a fault in the alarm system. If you lock the center console release but don't close it (more specifically, don't latch it) you'll get a beep when you lock. All other alarm system elements should work. Hope that helps!

.. am I missing something? I didn't realize that the center console could be locked, only closed. Are we all talking about the 987's .. or the glovebox .. or .. ?

mbodo,
I believe that you may be correct (that contributors are referring to the 986, not the 987), as my 987S also does not have a lock on the center consol, nor does the manual state anything about this topic other than the quote I gave above.

I REALLY want this feature as well. Is there a way to modify the alarm firmware so it beeps by default. I usually have to do it two three times until i understand it's locked, and sometimes it's not easy to see the blink in bright california sun.
errr... was double blink locked or unlocked?..let me do it again, check the door. did it even blink?...etc...

I'd really like sound confirmation on my locks !

If you get the Smartop upgrade you will get the double beep when locking. There is now a group buy going on on the 997 board. I have it for my 997 and it is awesome. I got it for the top (obviously) but the beep on lock was a nice added benefit. Worth the invesment!

On the 996 is any element of the central locking system is closed improperly or causes a circuit to be open, one (1) audible beep will occur but all other circuits will lock as normal. I believe what is trying to be conveyed here is that id you leave your center console unlatched (not completely closed) you will get a beep after all of the rest of the circuits are closed. This is a DIY approach.

I know for Merceded-Benz, you can have your dealer set a certain system to "Norway" mode and you will recieve one (1) audible beep when the doors are unlocked and three (3) audible beeps when the doors are locked. I'd call your dealer and see if Porsche has a similar system.
