987.1 Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature Gauges - Prototypes
Product Description and Images (Prototype)
Pinnacle Analog is developing 987.1-specific oil pressure and oil temperature gauges that bookend the 987.1 OEM instrument gauge cluster. With the custom form-factor of our gauges, 987.1 owners will have the vital signs of their M96/M97 engines during daily drivers, spirited runs and track days. When installed, the gauges provide pressure and temperature information within the driver’s field of view as in the 997s.
Do you like the concept? Would you install the producgauges integrates well and has OEM look?

None of the above...
When I eventually get my car, I'll be installing analog gauges for at least water temp and oil pressure.
I'm even thinking there's got to be some way to retrofit a proper dip stick but that remains to be seen.

.2 owner chiming in... not a fan of your mockup, wouldn't put that on my car. What I would consider though is an oil pressure and temperature gauge that replaced the (useless) factory analog speedometer. Would need to look OEM though.

I like having more information, that being said, I cannot stand anything that looks like a"knock off". It either has to be a perfect match to OEM font, needles etc. or has to be clearly something aftermarket. I can't see it super clear but it looks droopy or like a runny egg gauge if you will. I love the idea, for me not quite there yet

ditto, don't like the "add-on" look to the gauges. But I am definitely onboard with getting SOMETHING!!! How about just a digital display that goes in the little cubby area underneath the A/C?

I love the idea, but not necessarily the form. There's a vendor who provides a Sport Chrono clock replacement gauge for oil pressure and coolant temperature, which integrates quite nicely, but they don't officially support the 987.1 since it requires the additional installation of an OEM-like oil pressure sensor in the engine compartment, and splicing its wire into the CAN bus.
Would your solution have any logging capabilities?

@leo9X7 thank you for taking this on! I'm definitely interested in a solution but agree with others here that the prototype doesn't suit my taste. On the track, I'm currently using an Innovate Motorsports MTX-D combo oil pressure/temp gauge but due to it's location down on my stripped down center stack I barely have a chance to check the reading during a session and can only get a good look at the end. For this reason, I really like the idea of having it be higher up. Simply for a track implementation I'm not particular about it having a needle but would prefer it to look uniform and in an OEM "housing".
Idea #1: I'm wondering if a digital stack of vertical LEDs in a slimmer add-on like the one in the prototype could "hug" the right-most stock gauge without it looking like it is going to slide off. Pressure on the left, temp on the right? EDITED: Ooops -- your company is Pinnacle Analog, strike the digital suggestion!
Idea #2: How about a two "T" pods that sit on top and "between" the existing cluster circles, e.g. o T O T o
Regardless, I'm subscribed, interested, and eager to see what you come up with! Many thanks again for giving the 987.1 love in this area -- much needed!

I'll chime in with a strong second to encourage pursuit of a solution using the speedometer rather than some tacked-on gauge elsewhere. I'm not sure I've ever consulted the analog speedo given the digital readout that exists in the central display, so I'd gladly give over the analog speedo's space to a combo oil pressure/oil temp gauge that is the mirror image of the water temp/fuel level gauge on the right side. Also agree with other feedback that it needs to look 100% stock with fonts/needles/colors or I wouldn't consider it.

You're going to have a hard sell to get any take up of the tacked on unit.
The position, color, font, wonkiness, etc are just all off.
With the Sport Chrono position available, and a range of products to suit that location, compromises there are kept to a minimum...
