Default Instrument cluster dots

I was detailing my Cayman last weekend and when cleaning the instrument dials, these spots showed up over the speedometer plastic cover as soon as I wiped it with a soft cloth and some Invisible Glass cleaner. Any idea what this could be? I tried wiping them away with water and other mild cleaners but no luck.

My car has the same since I got it, I believe it’s on inside the glass!

Hmmm. Not sure that’s the case for fine. They only appeared after I wiped it.

Ive had this problem too.. The clear plastic that Porsche uses for it gauges doesn't resist some chemicals and the results are the white spots or clouding.

Products like Armor All or other vinyl conditioners are the worst offenders.

My remedy:

Use a soft, non-abrasive microfiber cloth and put some rubbing alcohol on the cloth and gently rub the areas until you feel the cloth warm. It will take multiple times before it absorbs the oils in the clear plastics, but eventually it will clear up.
