Default 987 front bumper skin damage

Hey all,

I bought a 987.1CS a few weeks back, and it has a dent/crease in the front bumper skin. I'm just looking for advice from anyone who has had to replace/repair a bumper.

On a previous car (not pcar), I had a minor scratch/dent that was repaired by a body shop. I think it was done by applying some heat to try and flatten out the dent and then repaint. Anyways, this cost about ~$500 and never looked good, in my opinion, and I would not have gone that option if i knew how the repair was going to turn out.

So I think my options would be:
(1) get new bumper and repaint ~$1500.
(2) try and find a used in great condition bumper and repaint (or find one in Arctic silver metallic) $500-$1000.
(3) have body shop fill and sand and repaint my current bumper. ~$500

(4) just live with it as it is not that bad and cant tell unless you are looking for it.
The potential downside of any repainting would be that it would not match the color of the current car so Idk if i would go that route.
I attached an image of the crease, please let me know what you guys think!!

TIA

Someone is selling a complete bumper on the Planet 9 classifieds in Arctic Silver. I have no idea on the condition, but maybe it’s a better option than yours.

I'm impressed that you could dent one that way, as I am pretty sure they are plastic.

That could be repaired and resprayed pretty easily.

I saw that one. It also has some damage, would say it is comparable to mine so not worth buying.

With the fill, sand, and respray method?
Do you think it will be noticeable that it was repaired?

My understanding is that as long as it’s not cut, it can be heated and re-shaped by a good body shop.

I’d check this logic with a certified Porsche repair shop in your area, one with good reviews. That’s my bet.

Good luck!

I am in the process of fixing mine. Last summer, I had a similar 'dent' Yes, even as these are Urethane, they dent.
I removed mine last fall. I have a basement room that I'm using.
I have the paints and am waiting a week or so for it to warm some. I have stripped the paints and repaired this dent. It's straightforward.
I sanded it out and I used the lightest filler for this. I have it now mostly sanded and a basic prime. I will wet-sand this 400, then a plastic adhesion spray before the prime.
I'll keep you posted.

Adhesion Spray-Primer-Basalt Black-ClearCoat with Hardener

The 2 on the right are NOT Home Depot rattle-cans. they use pro-paints, they have a fan-like, mist of a spray near exact to air-guns.
I expect to use 2 or 3 cans of base and the same 2-3 cans of Clear Coat. they are $35 each.
A local auto paint supply shop works with me and mixes the paint and spray cans

My '05 had the front re-sprayed, but poorly. When I got my small dent, the paint flaked all around it.
I'm expecting great results with the process I'm doing.
I expect a keen eye will be able to tell if any part is re-sprayed.

As I said in my OP, I have had the heated re-shaped method done on a previous vehicle and was not impressed with the results. It looked better , but it was still noticeable, and I would not have gone through the repair if I had known the end result.

I suggest leaving it as is. That’s a sacrificial part in my opinion and simply lets others know you use your car. One on my car is faaaaaar far worse. I use my car aggressively and the world takes it out on the bumper and windshield.
