Default Slight coolant leak

Large coolant line - driver side picture is pointed at the front motor mount

Seems to be slightly weeping from the plastic sleeve pictured here
if you wiggle the hose it leaks more
others have this issue before? Seems odd to be coming through the fitting
What do you replace for this?

thanks?

If that's the supply line, PET has PN 987 106 501 07 (for 2006 - 2008 cars).

Pictures on Google make it look like there's a metal collar on the hose that slips into that plastic housing.

Good luck

This is a 987.2

The leak is coming around the seal of part 9A1 106 132 01

But seems odd to leak from there

I see. I agree that it's a weird place to have it leak but there at the front of the engine gets a lot of heat reflected from the firewall. I don't know how that metal collar is attached/bonded to the hose but it must be nearing its end. Modern connections in these cars are not always so intuitive to me, and this doesn't look like a crimp or compression connection, so it looks like black magic to me, that it's able to seal well at all in the first place.

Cheers

I’m debating

the rubber hose
the plastic hosing
the metal clip

either way it’s gonna be messy

If you've never taken one of these apart, it is basically an O ring seal. But the rubber hose is bonded to the metal end fitting and certainly it would be possible for this bond to start to fail. I replaced these hoses on my car at 100K miles while I was doing a motor mount replacement. One less thing to worry about.

Unfortunately the simplest thing if you’re sure the hose is fully seated now is to replace the hose. They aren’t super costly.
less likely a problem but not unheard of would be a problem on the female side the hose end goes into. A crack there.

And if it leaks more when you wiggle it then it either isn’t clipped fully both sides, o ring is bad or rubber hose is no longer connected to the metal end correctly. Make sure it’s in and clipped first, that’s the most likely thing. Then order a hose.

If you undo it, you can add some silicone grease (something like DC111) to the o ring and the sealing area in general to help with seating and sealing.

Exactly the same problem here; 2010 987.2 Boxster S. After seeing minimal traces of coolant at this point last fall, I had massive coolant leaks after the winter break and stopped the car as a precaution. I'm about to replace at least the hose and seal as well as the connection piece. I'm also thinking about replacing the water pump, which has been in perfect condition up to now (soon to be 50 thousand miles), and possibly renewing more of the cooling water circuit. It seems like a bottomless pit to me. What do you think?

Did you find the root cause and how extensive was the repair?

yup you’ll need that pipe and the new clips
might as well do water pump
might as well do the other soft line next to it

bleeding it suxks bad - my little compressor couldn’t do it so had to go to a shop for another bleed

Default Lubricant

Porsche wants you to use their coolant lubricant on those O-rings. It’s not terribly expensive and the bottle is enough to lubricate a fleet of cars. It’s odd stuff, about the consistency of KY. Definitely only use it on O-rings.
