Default How to troubleshoot airbag light

My airbag light is on, these are the codes that my durametric is giving me.

8016 Passenger Airbag OFF light open circuit/short circuit to ground
80F9
C141 Communication PCM (display)
C152 Communication PSM control unit (drive)
8012 Voltage supply below lower limit

I have never had to troubleshoot an airbag light or sensor so I really dont know where to start.

I would say that the 8012 code is the red flag. Low battery voltage can generate all sorts of issues. It is generally understood that a fully charged battery should indicate 12.6 volts, with no load on it.

Multimeter reads 12.27v

Lead acid car batteries are made up of 6x 2.1v cells, hence the 12.6v total. Running them to a discharged state can cause the cell plates to become sulfated and not hold the max charge anymore. You can get battery chargers that can 'repair' them back to full health, some are better than others at doing it, I've had great sucess getting one back from 12.2'ish to full health after about 10 full repair cycles -

Like harveyf said, low battery is the starting point. It can cause havoc with the cars computer.

Well, with the proper charger, you should be able to save the battery. But if it won't hold a charge i.e. stay at 12.6v, say overnight, then that has to be dealt with. Of course, you should do a check of the voltage at the battery with the car running, to test the alternator. That should be in the mid 13's.
It could also be corrosion at the terminal connections to the battery. Or the connections may be loose. The connection of the battery ground cable to the chassis should be checked. But if you are checking voltage directly at the posts on the battery and getting 12.27, then that rules out the cables.
You might want to borrow another multimeter just as a verification.
A long shot but the interior curtesy lights actually pull some load. Check the car a 1/2 hour or so after removing the key, getting out, and shutting all the doors to make sure the delay cutoff feature on the curtesy lights is actually working. There is also one in the frunk. It is hard to check but if nothing else make sure your frunk is latched properly. Going deeper, there is a chance that you have a system issue that is draining the battery. There have been threads on this subject that you might want to search on.
And finally, cold weather can be tough on batteries. I have to keep mine on trickle chargers in this cold weather or they get very sluggish.

If you feel that you have good voltage on the system and you still get the light, it may indeed be the seat belt latch or the pressure switch in the passenger's seat. My Durametric can troubleshoot the ABS and tell you to some degree which component is causing the issue.
