Default 2007 modified Cayman price opinion

Found a 2007 Cayman base with mods has 116,000 Miles clean title. Asking $19k do you guys think it's a fair price or what would it be worth. Thank you

As they say, there's nothing more expensive than a cheap Porsche. I'm not a fan of buying someone's modified car unless I know the person and the car's history. The price seems ok, but the car has likely had a hard driven life. I'm assuming it's a 6MT. If so, I see no mention of a clutch, flywheel, and shifter cable replacements. Those items alone can cost you $3500-5000. Then there's the bore score issue that's prevalent in the 987.1 cars. I'd DEINFITELY have the engine scope for bore score along with a PPI.

Do you like the car and are willing to pay that? That seems above market for a high mileage base. Mods never really add a lot of value for most people unless it is something they really wanted to do anyway. Avant Guard wheels can be heavy if memory serves and I am never a fan of black wheels on any car. So that is a hard pass for me right there. The 2.7 liter is very low risk for bore score so the mileage isn't a huge concern if there is documentation of lots of oil changes and maintenance. My concern at that mileage would be the timing chain guides so a good PPI is a must and you may still want to drop the pan. Clutch is anybodies guess depending on how it was driven but it is a high mileage car. Shifter cables are lower risk for the 5 speed but do still happen. An IPD plenum and large TB is a dubious upgrade on a 3.4 L an probably pointless on a 2.7L. Search around on youtube for the dyno test that showed zero power increase. Can you deal with a car with race headers and a tune? In my state I can't and had to even remove the window tints. So back to my opening question do you love it or will it be a short term fling? Your P&L is set when you buy.

Base cars are not susceptible to bore scoring. In fact, I don't believe there's a single documented example.

I could totally be persuaded to buy this car, if I did not already have a 2006. Presuming the engine is strong, that car can deliver incredible smiles for the money. I have Avant Garde wheels on mine, and they're great. I don't track it anymore, so a little more unsprung weight is generally meaningless in the every day driving I do. If well cared for, Porsche engines and transmissions can deliver huge miles reliably, so as long as it passes inspection and you get an independent Porsche shop to do a PPI, I'd say go for it.

I’d say the price is a bit high. The mods don’t necessarily add value unless you absolutely must have them and will make it that much harder to sell when you’re done with it.

Get an inspection, but know that they may not catch everything.

if you’re in CA, make sure it will pass smog with the race headers.
