Default Radio operation without key present?

I'm asking if your radio will play or turn on if there is no key present?
Thank You

if the radio is on when i turn off my 2007 cayman, the radio turns off too, which means the radio's current is switched, directly or indirectly, to the ignition. so i doubt it.

As far as I have seen, most modern cars will not run the radio without the ignition in ACC mode. These cars are no different. To be clear, on my car (2010 Boxster Base) with an aftermarket radio, just inserting the key turns on the radio. The stock radio may require a rotation of the key, I don't know. In either case, removing the key turns it off, as expected.

I think only older cars had "always on" radios, but to prevent running down the battery, most cars these days will turn it off when the key is removed...

This...Perfect response...I've been driving since 1964 and have never driven a factory-radio-equipped car that didn't require a signal from the ignition to enable the radio.

‘05 Boxster S here. I can jump into the car without the key and turn the factory radio on, just tested it again.

Maybe this changed in later model years. 🤷‍♂️

Huh...Interesting...Does it time-out after a certain interval? In my 981, the radio will play with the key in the ignition but not on, but after a brief interval, it times out. It won't come on without the key in the ignition. In every other car I've owned, the key had to be in the ignition and turned to the ACC (Accessory) position for the radio to operate.
