Concur, it sucks. I guess I'm off the search the board for exactly all the parts numbers I need to go aftermarket.

My '07 Boxster S has Bose, the amp is in the back of the roll bar hoops. Will this work/plug and play with my standard system? All I have is the radio/CD unit.

To tell the truth, all I'd really want in the Boxster is a satellite radio, though Android Auto would be nice. Was there ever a Sirius box that worked with this gen Boxster?

Like the current PCCM+ for the 996 and 986, the 987 version of the PCCM+ will support the MOST network in our cars.

In fact, the 996 folks that have MOST (post-2002), say that the units are pretty much plug-in-play unlike those with analog systems.

There should be two amps in the Bose system: the main amp in the frunk and the sub-amplifier (for the two woofers in the back deck) in the rear deck system.

In my 08 Cayman, the BOSE subwoofer is in the passenger footwell area.

Thank you Andy. I appreciate the time you took to let me know. My FT job involves a lot of video production and so if I ever purchase a PCCM+, I'll do an installation video just for people like you. Now, if I can just convince my wife that I need a $1300.00 radio upgrade in the Porsche. haha

For those that want a factory look, correct bezel design, and finish but don't want to pay the price of the Porsche PCCM+.

That's interesting. So for a Bose system, you're looking at $660 for wireless Carplay and wired AA. Or $740 for the above with the OBDII scanner add-on. Also gives you the option for a backup camera (says included, but can't tell). No reviews, curious about phone call quality, and only lists 987 up to 2009, though I'm guessing all 987.1 and 987.2 are included, for half the expected price of PCCM+....

I have no dog in this fight and definitely no affiliation with this company. But please don't fall victim to the whole "Plug and Play" part in the description. If you compare the connections of the factory CDR-24, CDR-30, or PCM units, you'll notice that Porsche uses different ISO connectors and this unit appears to not offer the factory style fiber optic output. Therefore, it's my opinion that these unit do require some form of adaption especially for the MOST connectivity. I predict they adapt analog audio output to a MOST digital signal. Not good IMHO! This could be problematic for those that like radio info to show up on their gauge cluster.

Not sure of the quality. But IMHO, it will be similar to a lot of cheap aftermarket unit you find on Amazon or AliExpress. Definitely subpar to Pioneer, Alpine, Sony, etc.

I'm still of the opinion, that the Porsche PCCM+ is the better route even though it's very expensive.

Good info, thanks! I'm certainly not going to be the guinea pig on this unit, but certainly sounds/looks nice from the specs. I'm not in need of radio upgrade, especially at $1,300+, so will just wait and see how this all pans out.

I'll probably be one of the buyers, my little AM FM set up isn't cutting it too well. Lol

I probably will be too. Have the CDR30 in my 987.2 which is a bit rubbish!

At what point did we all start needing a back up camera for a Cayman or a Boxster?!?!? Even on my SUV, I'll still swing around and confirm space vs buy what's on the screen. For these cars though, it's beyond me.

In the past, the so called "HI-FI" Porsche/Becker systems were fed a LINE-LEVEL analog output from the head unit. Unfortunately, this is not supported by the current PCCM+. Therefore, users are having to use HI/LO conversion boxes to get the signal to the analog amplifiers. Does your CDR-30 feed an amplifier in the frunk?
The links I'm reading show support up 2005. I would love to get back the read outs and nav on the instrument cluster - hoping the PCM 3 supports that ... just not sure it will work on the MY08's?

Quick Reply: Porsche PCCM+ for 987 cars! Coming soon.
