With the popularity of the classic radio for older aircooled Porsches and latest PCCM+ for 996 and 986 cars, the 997 and 987 version is about to be released. Testing is finishing up. This product could be release before Fall. What do you think?
I've been waiting for a while for this one. Definitely going to be upgrading! The 996/986 version seems to be getting rave reviews. I really don't want a cheezy aftermarket headunit, so I've been sticking with my stock CDR-24 with a bluetooth upgrade.
I mean, it will be an automatic purchase for me, I'm just surprised that there will be no wireless CarPlay given that iPhones, and likely Android phones will be dumping USB at some point in the next generation or two.
Does this work in 987.2's as well?
Wish it had BU camera; maybe we'll see see a bluetooth app for BU camera get developed.
They passed up opportunity for larger screen. 987.2 stock screen = 6.5" this new one = 7.0" Big Woop!
Any info on pricing?

It should work on a 987.2, but it has a faceplate and buttons that match the .1 which kind of defeats the purpose of it looking factory…
Does this work in 987.2's as well?

Here are some lab photos from the EMTEK testing facility.
You can see the 997 unit has a black bezel. Porsche moved to the black bezel with 997.2 and 987.2 cars. Therefore, this could be a sign they'll release a 987.1 and 987.2 at the same time.
Correct me if I'm wrong here.

It has regular CarPlay/Android Auto, just no wireless version. Personally a backup camera on a car this small is a bit redundant, but to each their own!
All that money and no backup camera is a deal-killer for me - also not linking to Apple CarPlay....
Just bought new top-of-the-line Sony HU with Most interface, yet to install it.

Hey guys,
Did y'all download the pdf manual in my original post? If not, download and read it.
The new PCCM+ for the 987 and 997 cars will support Apple Carplay and Android Auto. (Notice page 27 taken from the manual below)
It appears it will not support "wireless Carplay", but at least it will support it via USB. Not sure about support for backup cameras or parking sensors. That's yet to be determined.

That's exactly what I told the wife as well, then I started backing out of spots at Home Depot and the supermarket. Now a camera seems like a very nice nice addition.
I didn't realize wired AA was included. I like keeping my phone plugged in for charging, so that's fine with me. Will keep an eye on this now. Thanks for the info.
