Default One good improvement that you can actually see!

One thing I've noticed they've improved upon is they've eliminated the stupid breakout box and put the USB phone connection on the headunit. (see picture)

I wonder if this unit works with existing PCM 3.0 Audio & iPod Input Kit...?

My daily driver (Grand Cherokee) has CarPlay, but not wireless. I bought a small device that plugs into the USB port and it allows my phone to connect wirelessly to the system. It works well about 95% of the time, so something like this may be a solution.

Oh wow, wasn't expecting $1,300. Not sure why I'm surprised by that pricing though. I don't know, I upgraded the wife's 958.1 PCM 3.1 to wireless Carplay/AA and while she loves it, I don't really care for the maps so low in the dash. I think I'm perfectly fine with my Proclip mounting system that keeps the phone nice and high and in my direct line of sight. But I'll search out some 996 upgrade videos to see if there's more to this that I'm missing.

If it had wireless AirPlay, even at the price I think it would be a no-brainer for me. Still having to pull out and plug in my phone...eh, I'm not sure it gets me that much. At least it gives us an option if the original units start dying, I guess.

Yeah, I've seen those, that might be a good way to go. Shame they couldn't just design it in, though.

Thanks for the post re: CarPlay - plugging in is no problem.

Does this price include navigation?

Reading all the instructions on Suncoast's site indicating all the modifications that may need to be made to dash. A/C and more - I'm losing interest fast......

This should be plug & play.....

Navigation is part of Carplay/Android Auto using Apple or Google Maps.

Instructions are for a 986, not a 987, which as far as I can tell will be plug and play. The additional work is for the breakout box, which is included on the headunit on the 987 model.

I chose to go with JoyeAuto for the PCM 3.0 in my wife's Spyder. It has wireless Apple CarPlay and the ability to conned front and rear cameras (I added a rear camera). I have the JoyeAuto unit in my GT4 with front and rear cameras. It's been a great addition. I do the installs myself, but I think it would cost less then the Porsche unit if you were to have either professionally installed.

I was wondering if there was a PCM 3.0 retrofit. I have the Isudar board in the wife's PCM 3.1, but didn't see one on their site for 3.0. Good to know there is an option though if I decide to go that route.

The manual doesn't mention it (likely the European version), but I assume that SiriusXM support will still be available as it is in the 986/996 PCCM+?

It wouldn't surprise me if Porsche cuts SDARS on future versions of the PCCM+.

IMHO, like CD-audio discs, satellite radio's days are numbered, especially now with free streaming services on smart phones that can be easily moved from car to car.
