I thought the entire point of the upgrade was Apple CarPlay and Android Auto? NAV seems pointless, no?

It is until you drove in an area without cell signal... hard to believe yes but it can happen depending on where you go.

You can also download map data from google maps ahead of time. This is something I normally do when traveling to ensure that even if cell signal is lost, you can still make it to your destination.

I figure I’d in buying the unit I want all the functionality, hence the SD card. Wow, quite the install price. I’ll happily do it myself in half the time, not have to leave my car with someone and spend the savings on other upgrades

$299 per hour?! Is the typical for a Porsche dealer? (I’ve never taken mine to a dealer yet).

I dropped mine off on Tuesday at a private installer and they've had a few glitches. I keep having to email them links from this site for problems they've uncovered. It seems that this unit is not installed the way that 986 pccm plus units are. They've installed many of the 986. I gave them the Friend Green Porsche video to start with and I don't know if they bypassed watching it or not. Supposedly it will be ready today. I can't wait!

For those that have done the install yourself, where the heck is the antenna module that needs to be bypassed? I cannot find mine anywhere in the area the 997 guys are posting about, leading me to believe the 987's is in a different spot...or I am somehow looking in the wrong place. Anyone done it...any advice is much appreciated!

I paid just under 1400 bucks shipped to South Dakota. PCA discount was pretty nice.
