Default WTB: 987.1 Cayman S, 6MT

Hi, I'm pasting this from a thread I created on the P9 forum because I haven't been able to find a suitable car in over a year. I also don't seem to have permission to post in the "wanted" section of the marketplace.

I'm an ex 2.7 Cayman 5MT owner, and after an unfortunate accident totaled my beloved car am in the market for another Cayman.

Must Haves:
  • California car
    • I'm in the SF Bay Area, but I am willing to travel in-state for the right car
  • 6MT
  • Detailed maintenance records if the car has covered over 80k miles
  • Sport Chrono
  • Power Seats
  • XPA (Thicker, round steering wheel)
  • Black interior
Nice to Haves:
  • Little-to-no modifications
  • AOS replacement
  • Water pump replacement
  • Clutch job complete if the car has higher miles
  • Brake job complete (pads, rotors)
  • Complete maintenance history
  • 1-2 previous owners
  • PASM
  • 18" 5-spoke wheels
  • 19" Lobsterclaw wheels
Preferred Colours (not awfully attached to a colour, but white/silver is eh):
  • Seal Grey
  • Lapis Blue
  • Midnight Blue Metallic
  • Speed Yellow
  • Slate Grey Metallic
  • GTS Red

If you have a car or know of a car that fits these conditions, please PM me or respond to this thread and we can discuss further. I'm budgeting around $25-35k for this car, so I'd like to have most if not all the must-haves ticked on the car along with some of the nice to haves. I understand that the spec I want is definitely uncommon, but if I happened to find it used on my base 987.1 on CL, I'm sure an enthusiast community might be able to help me out here.

Thank you for your consideration.

Hi likethebossiam. I have a seal gray with sand beige '06 with 85K miles. I have most records previous to my ownership. The car does not have all of the must haves such as sport chrono, XPA and black interior. Last year the clutch, RMS, coils, etc. were replaced. No oil consumption. AOS replaced last year. New tires. Transit Blu HF - blue tooth and hands free phone while maintaining OEM Bose system. Lowered using Eibach springs. Shifter mechanism updated suing Function First OEM replacement, not a short shift. Soul Performance exhaust pipes replaced for looks and sound but not loud. Passed emissions test in December.

I am a 37 year member of PCA. I live in Roseville. Keep me in mind if you do not locate a vehicle closed to your list of preferences.

The exterior is great but the interior needs some attention. Porsche did not use great finished for the sand beige interior.

Hi jtedgar, thank you for your reply. I'll keep this car in mind. I'm local to the SF Bay Area, but there is a chance I may come to the Rocklin area this week to view some cars. I am in contact with a specialist dealership in the area who sold a 987 in the exact spec I wanted just last week, but are helping me source another similar vehicle from their list of prior clients. I am quite attached to the must-haves but will definitely keep the car in mind for its service records.

Thanks.

This is a no brainer. Why chance it with a dealership

Not chancing it with a dealership, his clients weren't interested in selling.

jtedgar's 987 is certainly an option, but it doesn't meet many of my must haves, especially the black interior. As they suggested in their post, it would most certainly be a good backup option should I not be able to find any other 987 options. On another note, I drove my friend's 2022 BRZ yesterday as a comparison for a 987CS with the intention of cross-shopping with a GR86. Now looking for both GR86 and 987CS. They are both around the 30k mark.

My guess is, if someone has the car you spec’d, they know what they have and it’s going to cost you north of 35 grand.
