you will need the constant, switched and ground connections to power the new head unit. You do not need a new amp, the fiber optic connection will power the Bose system and connect the output of the new head unit to the Bose Amp
hmmm - I am having the same crackle then no sound issue. I already have a semi-updated Alpine head unit. Based on what I read, I think I actually need a new amp. Do I have to get a Bose amp?

I thought you said you have a Bose amp?
Is your head unit powering on and do you have the MOST interface connected?

Yeah, the Alpine head unit has power and it’s connected to the original Bose Amp in the frunk. I also noticed that loud static and then no sound. Oddly it seems to be temperature related because on warm days I have started up the car and everything works fine. Regardless, looks like I need a new Amp. Can I buy a new amp, or do I have to find a refurbed Bose unit?

Won't your Jensen contect to your iPhone/CarPlay using Bluetooth? Do you really need the USB/Aux device?

TIA,

In order for CarPlay to work with the Jensen, yes, you need a USB-Lightning cable from the Jensen to the iPhone.
This Jensen is not WiFI CarPlay
there is a separate USB connector for a flash drive that will hold/play audio files

@ClemCLone You list the "Metra 999606G Porsche 997 2005-2012 DDIN In-Dash Kit, Gray bezel", but Amazon says that that won't fit a 987... is your link/ref correct? Yous looks good in the picture, if that's the one.

That is the one in the pic I have. It's an exact color match and fitment
This is the one I bought, as well as another that has a 2007 Boxster. this is the search I did on the part number. It's the same

Metra 99-9606G Single/Double DIN Dash Kit for Select 2005-2012 Porsche 997 Vehicles (sonicelectronix.com)
