I was looking into doing the oil change. And came across this, as an alternate to Mobil 1 engine oil. It may not really matter, as it's just oil that will sit in a non-running car - until Spring - then new oil anyway... but, thoughts??

I'm wondering why you would change the oil now, wait a few months without running the car, then change it again. Just put the "good stuff" in it now and you'll be ready to crank and run in the spring. You're making this way too difficult.

I haven't parked it yet. We've been graced with amazing weather yet. I've been driving it as much as humanly possible, over the past month. Every day without snow, has bee a TOTAL bonus!! But it's looking like next week, things start to dip. So I'm getting the final prepping done. It's due for a service, as of Nov.... so that's why I'm doing it now.

I change my oil once a year in the spring. A lot of people do an annual oil change just before storing the car for the winter. In Europe Porsche says oil service is only once every two years. Based on that I don't think it really matters if the car has clean and shiny oil in it when it's sitting in the sump all winter anyways.

This is what I was referring to.

Don't make the mistake some people do by starting the car and letting it idle in the garage. Unless you get it up to operating temps you are just introducing moisture into the exhaust system and engine. If its a nice day take it for a good 20 minute drive and get all fluids up to temp. If you have max inflated the tires no need to deflate, its just a bumpy ride. The tires are going to be as hard as rocks, so be careful. If you have ultra summer tires I would not drive them unless it was above freezing. While unlikely you can crack the side walls. This is especially true for track tires like Hoosiers, but I'd don't see anyone taking a drive in the winter with Hoosiers.

Maybe I'm being a little extra fussy. But as the second caretaker of this car, I'm rather enjoying being a little fussy. The original owner took fantastic care of this machine, and it shows.. I can only hope to continue that. As I hope to be this car's LAST owner!!
I've been watching the weather forecast like a hawk. And enjoying some very unusually mild days here. Typically, we've had 2 or 3 shots of snow by now. But not this year. It's like 'Mom-Nature' is giving me a little bonus, on my first season of ownership...lol.
Once the car gets tucked away, there will be no starting, or moving. Pretty unlikely for us to have nice enough days - and clear enough roads - for such a thing. It'll hide nicely, in my heated garage. Waiting with heavy anticipation for Spring, and the roads to be clear!!

To prevent flat spots get these foam mats and place 2 under each tire, there are actual storage mats out there but this is the exact same thing only much much cheaper.

Mice are super destructive. I really loathe rodents.
Anyone in the rennlist world ever try this system?

I have always been a little curious about it. I'm guessing it works well.
Cheers
