The Valmet contract apparently ended in May 2011. That seems too early for their to be any 2012 model years produced in Finland. Perhaps they extended it a few months? Usually the model year change over happens after the August factory break, with next year's model year starting in late Augest/early September.

Likely yes, it's PASM. Also, having a wheels that are pushed out further flush with the fender edge gives the illusion of the car being lower... even if the ride height has not changed. These are Spyder wheels which are a half to one inch wider than other wheel options, and a lower offset. Also, it's a heavily edited marketing photo.

As others have said, you have grabbed a pretty unusual base Boxster build. You may already know this: an interesting Porsche production database is available for free in vinanalytics.com by just providing your VIN. If you sign in to the site (at no cost), you get access to a bit more data (such as your car's build sequence number) than as just an anonymous visitor.

Update: so it’s still in the inspection process after 2 weeks. I called them to ask what’s going on and the rep said it’s still in the reconditioning stage. She said they are waiting for a part, and it should be ready by Sept. 1st… I think I might be moving on from this one.

Don't be impatient. I put a hold on a Cayman S on March 17th of this year. The car was in "reconditioning" Until the first week of May. I spoke to a friend who is a Carvana exec and he said with cars like a Porsche it's very possible they've sent it to a dealer or specialist for a repair or have to wait for parts. I wouldn't walk away. My car turned out to be a great deal when all was said and done. Took 8 weeks for delivery but it was worth the wait.

Ditto, you can't be impatient. I think my car took a month in inspection/reconditioning... I forget exactly. But it's well worth the wait. 987.2 are hard to come by, and drive very different from the 981. I drove all the versions from the 986 thorugh the 981, and found the 987.2 was the best feel for what I wanted... so you just need to be patient.
