Default 2006 987.1 Cayman S to 2008 997.1 C4S?

Current Cayman: Sport Seats, Carnewal Exhaust, Bose Sound, Numeric Cables, Short Shift Kit, Alcantara interior, 33k miles

C4S I may buy from a friend: Standard seats, Carbon shift **** and handbrake, Bose Sound, completely stock, 27k miles

Is it worth the $12-15k to upgrade?

Really personal taste - I think a Cayman looks better and drives better, and it sounds like yours is pretty dialed-in, but that's just my opinion.

To me the answer is Yes, today.
But tomorrow it might be No.
Then Wednesday it is Yes again.
But then next Saturday it's......

You know what I mean?

The issue is I really want both. Don't make me pick ONE

This is confirmed after a test drive this morning. Better acceleration but cornered heavy. Sticking with my 987.

Thanks to all for the comments.

I suspect some of that has to do with the C4S layout vs a C2 or C2S... the C4S has a pretty rear end, but the AWD up front gives it extra weight, more parts to fail, more understeer at the limit, and (worst of all) it numbs the delicate, lightweight and oh-so-perfect steering feel for which these cars are known.

All that said, pretty much every review I've read from someone that has owned a Cayman and 911 basically says the 911 was a better GT car, but the Cayman was more fun. IMO the C4S would be ideal for someone looking for a daily, or someone wanting to drive cross country, or do a Safari build, or regularly encounters snow/ice.

Those were my exact thoughts after driving both extensively. If I were to go cross-country the 4S for sure, but general driving and track no...

One thing I can't unsee is my dash after experiencing the full leather of the 997.

Turns out the 997 is incredibly spec'd with PSE, PASM, Sport Chrono, Full leather, Bose, Memory seats, and Nav.

However, my 987 with R comps is absolutely perfect for backroad carving and feels like a Lotus Exige
