Car is currently at the dealer they want 9k to do this and my extended warranty i bought with the car less than a year ago has cancelled my policy due to lowering the car and exhaust apparently tiny print says no modifications allowed. thanks dealer says it needs a valve body
2007 CAYMAN S 3.4L

ITS IN TRANS EMERGENCY MODE D LIGHT AND 4 FLASHING
THEY DID DIAG ON IT AND SAID IT NEEDS THE VALVE BODY REPLACED HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER
AND I AM IN NASHVILLE TENN USA
SO DEALING WITH ALL OF THIS AND A WASTE OF THOUSANDS I SPENT ON A EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR

A well asked question will get more answers... so - information we're missing:
- Year/model of your Porsche?
- Miles on it?
- Failure mode (what it's doing that it shouldn't be)?
- Why does the dealer say valve body?
- Where are you located?

At that mileage, I'd be looking for a lower mileage used transmission. I'm guessing you have no service history on the transmission, but I believe a fluid and filter change is called for at 120k miles (usual Porsche) and there may have been a fluid change called for around 60,000 miles. If these were neglected they might contribute to the problem you're experiencing.
Valve bodies can be rebuilt. The solenoids in them are pretty standard (identified by color) and not difficult to change - but you really don't want to replace all of them (there are at least a dozen), so some knowledge of what failed would be useful to someone thinking of fixing the transmission. There are companies that rebuild valve bodies - but none I found listed the Boxster Tiptronic. A Google search and then some time on the phone might turn something up. Thing is - Porsche won't want to install a rebuilt part purchased from someone other than Porsche, so you'd be looking at getting the car to an independent shop who can work with you.
I imagine for $9,000 Porsche is replacing the transmission with a rebuilt one? If you intend to keep the car forever that's not a bad price - but it's also probably half the value of the car, and adds nothing to the value of the car, so economically it might not make a lot of sense. I'd skip this option. Your goal is to get the car working correctly again at the minimum expense.
I did a very brief search and found some used ones were around $1,100-$3,000.I'd suggest searching eBay. Vertek is a company that offers rebuilt ones for the earlier (986) Boxster for around $3,800 - but they had no listing for the 987.
I'm guessing you don't have a diagnostics tool that has software specifically for Porsche.. if you did it would be helpful to see what fault codes are stored in the transmission control module.
And for the extended warranty company - did they offer to give back the fee you paid them? If not - a strongly worded letter from an attorney might prove useful since they'd have to show a causal relationship between the exhaust or lowered suspension and the failed transmission.
Good luck. Let us know how it works out.

MY WARRANTY COMPANY IS GOING BACK AND LOOKING AGAIN. AND THAT WAS FOR THE VALVE BODY AND 5 HRS LABOR TO DO IT ALL. WHEN I PURSCHSED THE CAR ALL RECORDS SHOWED SERVICES DONE I HAD ALL FLUIDS CHANGED AND TAKEN CARED OF AT 100K MILES DID PLUGS AND ALL DID TRANS FILTERS AND REPLACED THE GASKETS DROVE FINE THEN AS SOON AS I GOT OFF INTERSTATE TO HEAD HOME THE LIGHTS FLASHED NO WARNINGS. I AM WORKING WITH THE DEALER TO GET MORE INFO SO FAR I AM THINKING REPLACE THE TRANS AND MOVE ON I FOUND ONE THROUGH LKQ AS I WORK FOR A DEALERSHIP MYSELF..FOR 2K HAS 60K MILES ON IT
